He said; “And so we launch. With the nearly boys and the new boys…the lofty, liver birds and the cheeky, chirpy canaries…the champions of the Championship on the treasured turf of the champions of Europe”

Here are some of the reactions from excited fans;

Peter Drury is a renown English football commentary for the Supersports. He is known for his poetic style of commentary, which he emulated from his role model Peter Jones who worked for BBC Radio. Jones was famous for having an authoritative,Β  beautiful, and poetic voice.

Drury’s poeticism is evident in the champions league quarter-finals match between Roma and Barcelona that took place in the Stadio Olimpico during the 2017/18 champions league where Barcelona lost to Roma on away goals.

Peter’s comments on the match just after Roma were through is arguably the most famous pieces of his commentary.
