A ruling that pronounced two high profile Rugby players guilty of gang rape has stirred public outrage on social media. Kenyans have questioned the values held by the current society.

The two Kenya Harlequin FC player, Frank Wanyama and Alex Mahaga are accused of sexually assaulting a musician on February 10, last year at Highrise Estate in Nairobi.

On Friday, Chief Magistrate Martha Karua postponed their sentencing to 16th August. She directed that they remain in custody till next week.

Kenyans had learned of her story earlier via social media last year. The musician accused the two players of drugging her before the ordeal when she went to one of their houses after her birthday celebration.

She further claimed that she got pregnant after the ordeal.

“I was slipping in and out of consciousness may be due to shock but I was helpless. I couldnโ€™t fight two men who play rugby professionally. Obviously, they were stronger hence I let them do whatever they wanted to do the whole night,โ€ she claimed.

Kenyans now want the two to be used as an example that will wipe out the rape culture.
