Kenyans on Twitter (KoT) have taken full credit following the decision by former KRA Commissioner-General Njiraini to withdraw his candidature for the position of NLC chairperson.

Njiraini was one of the 11 candidates shortlisted to fill the vacant position vacated by Muhamad Swazuri early this year. He said his decision was based on pursuing “other interests.”

“I wish to communicate my decision to withdraw as a candidate for the position of Chairperson of the National Land Commission in order to pursue other interests,” said Njiraini in a letter to the panel for selection of the NLC Chairperson and members.

But KoT has refuted these claims, arguing that he only threw in the towel after the Twitter army ganged up on him. They want to be given credit for forcing Njiraini out.

The fiery tweeps had argued that Njiraini among other retired leaders have been recycling themselves into the government’s top positions at a time that the country is facing a rising rise of unemployment.

The Tweeps demanded that it is time Njiraini retires from government positions and leaves the posts to the young generation whose majority are jobless.

Njiraini had sat at the helm of  KRA since March 2012, left in June this year after his term expired.
