Towards the end, last season reports emerged that English Premier League side had a budget of 45 million Euros to spend on transfers this summer. As per the reports, the club had to earn qualification for the Champions League next season which would have added more funds to their tight budget.
The team missed out on the Champions League spots after dramatically falling apart in the latter stages of last season that included a 4-1 humbling by Chelsea in the Europa League final. Most Arsenal fans were left hopeless following the drastic turn of events.
However, with the window set to close on Thursday, Arsenal has signed the most players among the top 6 English teams. The team has signed William Saliba, Gabriele Martinelli, Nicholas Pepe and Dani Cebbalos with two more players expected to sign for the Gunners before the window shuts.
The spending has exceeded the reported transfer budget with Nicholas Pepe’s fee alone being in the region of 70 Million Euros! The fans can hardly believe the business done by the club in the last two months.
Nicolas Pépé
Kieran Tierney
David Luiz
Gabriel Martinelli
Dani Ceballos (loan)
William Saliba (loaned back out)Brilliant window. Something I would never have expected after the Europa League final. Very proud of Raul, Vinai, Edu and the rest of the board for getting it done.
