It is the first Wednesday of August and so far, so good.

If you’re tech savvy and have been hoping to deposit your new notes using an ATM, please find another plan. The bankers say you’re going to have to wait, so for now, go the analogue way.
Still, on money matters, we used to have a saying, ” niko na pesa kama serikali.” Those were the good old days. That’s no longer the case in this country, considering County 047, the capital city itself, is facing a cash crisis. Workers have not been paid, as leaders wrangle and haggle. Who will save the county?
No retreat no surrender, say our Kenyan troops in Somalia. While the boys have done us proud in the fight against al Shabaab, there’s also the flip side: a shocking number of Kenyan youth have joined the terror group. Imagine going to war against an enemy only to find your neighbour in the thick of it! Anyway, we wish our troops the best and wish you a fruitful day.

Deposit of new currency notes in ATMs to take longer

It will take longer for customers to deposit the new currency notes using ATM machines, according to the Kenya Bankers Association.

Chief Executive Habil Olaka said this is because some of the banks that offer the ATM deposit service have yet to install a Cartridge System Software which acts as a security checker in notes.

The countdown to troops’ withdrawal in December 2021 challenges Amisom to ensure stability against a resilient al Shabaab, which hit Kismayu last month. Ahead of polls next year, the stakes are high.
