#1998BombBlast: The Memory Lives On

This was truly a day that will forever be embedded in Kenyans’ minds for as long as they come. August 7th marks one of the greatest tragedies in Kenya, among the first of its kind, and its create a huge impact that lives on in today’s society.

August 7th is a day Kenyans will forever remember as one of the most heart-breaking days of their lives. It just started as any other day, and soon became something else. In the afternoon, a massive truck bomb exploded outside the U.S. embassy in Nairobi, Kenya and minutes later, another truck bomb detonated outside the U.S. embassy in Dar es Salaam, the then capital of neighboring Tanzania. The dual terrorist attacks killed 224 people, wounded more than 4,500.

It was truly a tragedy.

This day would be remembered by many, even those who would not have been born by then, as clearly tillĀ  to date the then US Embassy building, now Co-operative Bank Building along Haile Selassie Avenue is widely known as Bomb blastB

Kenyans recently came out on social media to recite where they were when the sad incident occured alongside reliving the memories.
