Tottenham Hotspurs have agreed on personal terms with Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes. The Benfica midfielder has been subject to a summer move to the English Premier League with Manchester United also interested in his services.

Mauricio Pochettino is a huge fan of the player but it is still not clear whether Spurs will get their man as a deal with his club is yet to be agreed on.

Spurs finished as runners up in the Champions League last season but are in dire need of reinforcements. Dele Alli will miss the start of the season after a reoccurrence of the hamstring injury that kept him out of action for months last season while Victor Wanyama’s knee continues to trouble him.

They have already signed French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele for a club-record fee but will still need more players as Harry Winks and Eric Dier cannot be relied on fitness-wise. Mauricio Pochettino’s team will kickstart their season with a home match against newly promoted side Aston Villa.
