Mr Kennedy Olwa on Monday became the subject of discussion on social media after he appeared to mourners while his funeral service was taking place at his Homabay homestead.

Olwa had been reported missing for 20 years only for his family to receive a report of his death from the police. A few days later all was set for his burial ceremony after a body believed to be his was collected at the mortuary.

The family as well made funeral announcements on local radio stations. Coincidentally, Mr Olwa was listening to radio while fishing at Alum beach when he heard the announcement that he had died from an unknown illness.

“He called some of his relatives back at home to stop any plans of burying a body. Some relatives were sent to where he was to verify the truth and later came with him home only to find his own burial taking place,” said Ramba Location Chief Joseph Ndege.

A section of Kenyans who have taken to the social media react to the incidence expressed their outrage over the event citing negligence while handling the matter.

Among them is City Lawyer Miguna Miguna who now blames the responsible institutions. He argues that the story depicts the rot and the negligence in the current Kenyan society.

This story depicts what Kenya has become: a corpse without identity. The rot in Kenya has extended to and destroyed everything. Whose body was that being buried? How did he die and why wasn’t he properly identified and his family notified?”
