Fireworks in Kiambu As Waititu Resumes County Duties

Kiambu Governor Ferdinard Waititu on Sartuday shocked many after he took a move to inspect projects in Wangige and Kikuyu market two days after being released on bail.

The governor as well vow to chair a county meeting on Wednesday however at a place of his choice rather than county headquarters.

The embattled county boss has been barred from accessing the office pending and determination of a corruption case he is implicated in.

The court’s decision came barely days after Justice Mumbi Ngugi ruled that all governors charged with corruption must step aside just like other civil officers to pave way for further investigations.

The Kiambu county is currently at the stewardship of his Deputy James Nyoro who announced his entry into top county’s position on Tuesday citing that he was in the office legally as stipulated in the Constitution and that there was no power vacuum in Kiambu.

Kenyans who have since taken to the social media to react to Waititu’s move described it as a pessimist strategy that might not work for the governor’s plan of seeking a route back to the county offices against the court ruling.

Others took the opportunity to bash the Governor for contempt of court, are now calling on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Directorate of Public Prosecutions to take legal action against him.
