Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo plan of sponsoring an amendment to the Marriage Act that will compel all men to publicly declare their children sired in and out of wedlock seems to be dead on arrival as it has received an early backlash.
The controversial MP declared her move on Thursday where she stated that the amendment would compel all men, whether married or not, to declare the number of children they have sired, while still alive.
“I am bringing an amendment to the Marriage Act compelling all men to publicly declare their children in and out of wedlock while alive and in case they don’t, the mothers should declare. Mourning with shocks and counter shocks can cause another funeral,” Millie wrote on her Facebook page.
MP Odhiambo’s sentiments came after drama ensued at the late Ken Okoth’s burial when the Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, went rant demanding for the recognition of the late MPs second and secret ‘wife’, Ann Thumbi, who threatened to stop the deceased’s burial.
MPs proposal has received a lot of criticism as the majority of Kenyans have taken to social media to debunk it.
While a few expressed their support, the majority who are men criticized it arguing that the amendment would break many homes.

Some women have born kids with other men and cheat their husbands that they are theirs. What about that part?

So, if they don’t declare, then it is known when they are in the morgue, what penalty will the Bill prescribe and how do you enforce on the dead?

Why don’t women declare what they have sired with then men? Women are always playing victims when they find themselves between a rock and a hard place yet, when they engage in affairs they usually know the outcome and some of them do it deliberately. Bring it on ladies.
