From the catastrophic financial costs of cancer treatment, low funding towards cancer prevention and treatment as well as the lack of adequate cancer diagnosis and treatment facilities in our country, have made Kenyans to compel President Uhuru Kenyatta to declare it a National Disaster.

For God sake, for how long will Kenyans continue perishing because of this deadly disease?

The country is losing over 100 people to cancer every day, due to lack of treatment, misdiagnosis due to lack of proper diagnostic equipment as well as recommendations on the previous  NCD report that haven’t been implemented to date.

Majority of Kenyans living in the slums cannot afford to leave the country to go seek care for this deadly disease in the long run most of them end up dead.

To counter this,Nyali MP Mohammed Ali proposed a Bill that seeks to reduce the cost of Health care in the country.

Kenyans have said enough is enough, no more losing their loved ones to cancer. Cancer must be made a priority by President Uhuru Kenyatta declaring it a National Disaster.

In a span of less than a month, the country has lost over three prominent people; Bob Collymore, Kibra MP Ken Okoth then yesterday Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso succumbed to cancer. It is painful.

Even the renown gospel artist Esther Wahome lost his father to cancer.

As if that is not enough, Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko Yesterday revealed that over 60 lawmakers have cancer.

The rate is just alarming, and Kenyans are asking Uhuru to declare cancer a National Disaster so that the government can give it more attention to root it out of the country.
