Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has drawn praise from Kenyan ‘Netizens’ for his role in welcoming the Kenya Men’s Basketball team. The Kenya Morans made history by reaching the final of the FIBA Afrocan tournament held in Mali. The team, however, lost 61-82 to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Upon their return to the country, Sonko was at the airport to give them a hero’s welcome that included an open bus tour around the City. The politician also rewarded the team with a million shillings as a way of appreciating their historic efforts.
I'll continue to do my best in supporting sports especially with construction of sports facilities across Nairobi in order to boost development of sports by nurturing talents of our youths. I also rewarded the team Sh1m for their stunning performance in the continental tournament

Rhodenhizer Simotwo Good job Sonko.
The most decorated player on the team, Tyler/Tailor is a product of Eldoret especially the UG high school basketball court. All sports stakeholders countrywide should be committed as you are to improve the standards of the sport.
Alex Kiptoon I salute u Mr Governor great job well done God will reward and shower u with blessings and protect u from any harm live long Sonko. Sonko’s actions did not go unnoticed by Kenyans who were quick to laud him.
Thank you sir for the support you have been providing to different sports teams. I am a sports fan and I feel most leaders in Kenya should embrace your deeds. We need stadiums that can compete internationally. Our number one sport (athletics) should be largely supported.

Isaac Mwibanda Bw. Governor…Since the National Government has neglected our sporting heroes, you as a County Government or even as a individual can do something. No point in honouring them in death. We saw what happened to the Late Kadenge. Please call the likes of Abbas, Odumbe, ( all sporting entities) and discuss the way forward.
The Morans are back
