Barely two months after suggestively withdrawing his support for the Deputy President William Ruto, former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has set new conditions which the DP must meet in order for Echesa o guarantee him his full support in 2022.

Speaking on Monday in Kakamega town, the vocal embattled leader remained reluctant on his support for Ruto saying that his full support will only be guaranteed if the DP assures that they (Luhyas) will have a bigger stake in his government.

Echesa observed that Western region has been neglected for long by all the ruling regimes adding that most companies that acted as a source of income for the people of Western Region have since collapsed or are in their deathbed because of the region’s support for leaders who add no value to the region.

Echesa said that William Ruto has all that it takes to clinch the Presidency but should first prove beyond doubts that he will offer Luyhas positions in his next government.

Echesa who had declared his support for Amani National Congress ANC party leader maintained that the Luyha community had for a long time been taken as voting robots when they indeed command a bigger vote in the country.

Earlier on the day, the vocal former CS had also thrown jabs at Raila Odinga accusing him of Zero developments in Luyha land even after the community standing with him for three consecutive terms.

He compared the two towns of Kisumu and Kakamega saying Raila Odinga had taken more developments to Kisumu town as compared to Kakamega whose industries are falling at an alarming rate.

He also urged President Uhuru to prove to the Luyha community that he had their interests at heart by helping Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi to secure a leadership position just the same way he had helped the other NASA partners Raila and Kalonzo.

Echesa fell out with William Ruto after he was sacked by President Uhuru from the sports cabinet secretary post. He claimed that he was sacked because of his support for  Ruto, together with claims that he is linked to fraudsters facing charges in court for impersonation and printing fake currency.

After ditching Ruto, he shifted his allegiance to the son of the soil Musalia Mudavadi.

“Our leader Musalia Mudavadi, if it is doing favour you have done it enough. If it’s supporting the Nyanza people you have done it enough. It is time you get out of that camp. We promise you we will seek coalitions for you that will see you clinch the presidency,” said Echesa.

His decision to join ANC, however, did not go well down with Ruto’s followers from the region led by former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale.
