Deputy President William Ruto is now seemingly playing his new role as the new leader of Opposition in Kenya. This is according to most Kenyans on Twitter who were responding to Raphael Tuju’s new role in Raila’s camp as a strategist and a political consultant.
According to most of them, Ruto had been thrown into the opposition since the time President Uhuru Kenyatta shook hands with opposition leader Raila Odinga in 2018 to end a long political standoff between the two.
While responding to Ruto’s Sunday Tweet, many termed Ruto’s Tanga-tanga outfit as the official Opposition group since most of them were opposing everything being done by the president.
Ruto had earlier in the day through his Twitter account sarcastically criticized the move by Raphael Tuju to become a key adviser to ODM party leader Raila Odinga. Ruto had wondered how Jubilee’s party democracy was so liberal to allow its own Secretary-General to become the strategist of the other rival party (ODM)

Ruto was responding to reports by Daila Nation alleging that the Cabinet Secretary without portfolio had unmatched influence in both Jubilee and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) where he is now a member of Raila Odinga’s Advisory Council.
The newspaper stated that Tuju was a key advisor to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and holds a very important post in coordinating development projects in the Nyanza region. The daily also claimed that CS Tuju is a strategist in the 2022 succession race something that Ruto’s allies had alleged in the process calling for Tuju’s resignation.
It was, however, Ruto’s post that elicited mixed reactions from Tweeter users who accused Ruto of reading sinister moves in Tuju’s new role while he is the same one who was defending Aisha Jumwa who is a member of the ODM party. Here are some of the comments;
