Gor Mahia linked with 15 million-rated striker

Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia have been linked with a move for Burundian striker Jules Ulimwengu.

The 19-year old Burundi international is currently in the books of Rwandese champions, Rayon Sports and is with the team in Rwanda for Cecafa Kagame Cup.

Gor Mahia is  in the market for Jacques Tuyisenge’s replacement. Coach Hassan Oktay recently admitted that his side must replace the Rwandese striker who quit the club for Angolan side, Petro Atletico.

“We must sign a good striker before the window closes. In Tuyisenge, we have lost the best striker in East Africa and we need to replace him with similar quality because we have high targets that we have to fulfil next season,” Oktay said.

Reports in Rwanda now indicate that Gor Mahia hierarchy has identified the striker for signing although he will not come cheaply.

Rayon Sports has put a Ksh. 15 million release clause in his contract meaning Gor Mahia will have to part with all the money they got from the sale of Tuyisenge to Petro Atletico.

He joined the club in January and scored 12 goals as Rayon saw off competition from APR to clinch the 2018/19 Rwandan Premier League title.

Gor Mahia has so far signed seven players among them three attackers. The three are Curtis Wekesa, Dennis Oalo and Dickson Ambundo. Of the three, none is an out-and-out striker and explains why Oktay is keen on bolstering his forward line with a quality striker.
