DP WSR Pledges support for Roya Charity Cup

Deputy President, Dr William Ruto today met the organisers of Roya Charity Cup at his residential home in Karen which helps identify raw talent from the grass-root level pledging full support on the initiative.

The Deputy President vowed to give full support the Roya Charity Cup initiative which is spearheaded by the Harambee Stars captain, and Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder, Victor Wanyama.

The Deputy President pledged full support on all the efforts that promote scouting for sporting talent sharpening skills and developing youth to exploit their full potential, as well as engaging and joining the ranks of professional sportsmen and women to motivate them.

He pinpointed the importance of the Roya Charity Cup adding that the initiative will help identify young an raw talent from the grassroots and who will later be a great boost for the football fraternity in Kenya.

He insisted on the importance of strengthening the sports industry through adequate resource mobilisation and infrastructure development which is key to ensuring youths excel in sport and earn a decent living out of the same.

The Roya Charity Cup was launched in June last year with the sole objective of helping identify young budding players, sensitising the youth on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and education as well as helping them develop their sporting prospects professionally.

Another core aim is also to rehabilitate former footballers and sportsmen who live in poor conditions after retiring from active involvement football.
