Deputy President William Ruto is taking none from the Kieleweke team who wants him to stop his weekly huge church donations as he takes his fund drive functions to Senator Gideon Moi’s Baringo backyard.

On Sunday, William Ruto is expected to land in Eldama Ravine and Mogotio Constituencies where he is expected to lead different functions starting with a fundraising function at Sinonin AIC church in Ravine. The Fundraising will aid in the construction of 32 Churches drawn from Lembus Kwen Ward.

Expected to host William Ruto is Baringo governor Stanley Kiptis together with a number of Jubilee MPs from the county.

After the fundraising at Sinonin, the DP will head to Eldama Ravine Town for the Commissioning of water distribution within the town. He is also exp[ected to sneak into Eldama Ravine Girls’ High School for an official opening of a multipurpose hall funded by the Ministry of Education.

Later in the day, Ruto will be in Oldebes Secondary School for the laying of the foundation stone of an infrastructure project. His visit will come to a climax in Kisanana High School where he will also conduct fundraising for three churches.

It is highly expected that DP William Ruto and his foot soldiers will use the occasion to spread their Tanga-tanga message to the locals who for a long time had been adamant supporters of the former ruling party Kanu. Baringo Senator Gideon Moi is also expected to be the center of discussion at the two functions.

Dr. William Ruto and his Kanu counterpart Gideon Moi has for a long time been embroiled in a bitter political rivalry with each trying to take control of the rich Rift Valley vote. A few weeks ago, Gideon Moi was in William Ruto’s home county of Uasin Gishu holding different meetings with a section of rebels from the region.

Efforts by the Kalenjin Council of Elders to bring the two leaders together ahead of 2022 elections have failed to yield fruits with each firmly holding onto their grounds. The elders complained that despite a spirited bid to unite the two leaders, the elders are yet to make a breakthrough and chances of doing so are slim.

They had warned that the community risks losing the 2022 presidential race due to the battle of egos pitting the two ‘Sons of the Soil’. Gideon Moi has so far expressed his willingness to work with ODM boss Raila Odinga ahead of 2022.

It is highly expected that President Uhuru Kenyatta will endorse the son of Moi as a way of appreciation to the Moi family who endorsed him in 2002.
