Firebrand Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has mocked a section of Mt. Kenya politicians who on Thursday held a meeting at Nairobi to discuss development issues for their region. Kuria referred to such leaders as ‘octogenarians and rejects’ for holding such development meetings without the presence of elected leaders from the region.

Posting on his Facebook account, the MP argued that holding such development meetings without elected leaders would only create unnecessary suspicions like in the case of La Mada Hotel where four Cabinet Secretaries have so far been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for plotting the assassination of the Deputy President William Ruto.

“Some few octogenarians and rejects currently meeting at Safari Park Hotel purporting to be discussing Mt Kenya issues without elected leaders. The lesson of La Mada was that no matter how well-meaning such initiatives (And the handshake) are, leaving out elected leaders will just create unnecessary suspicions at a time that we need to pull together for development. A product is only as good as the process that created it”, read Kuria’s statement.

A section of Mt. Kenya leaders held the First annual Mount Kenya high-level Uongozi Forum meeting at Safari Park hotel on Thursday chaired by Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia.

“As a region, we want to ensure that the bloc trades with other counties and act as a unifying factor with other regions. Ours is not a political forum but purely an economic forum to discuss the empowerment of our people. The meeting brought together scholars, politicians, business people, and all prominent sons & daughters from the region to discuss the future of empowering our people economically”, said Kimemia.
