Joao Felix sets an incredible record after signing for Atletico Madrid

Portuguese wonderkid Joao Felix has set unbelievable record after signing for the Spanish side Atletico Madrid. Felix who has been one of the hottest properties this summer will go down on record as the second-most expensive teenager of all time after Kylian Mbappe and the fifth-most expensive transfers in history.

Atletico Madrid confirmed the completion of his signing for a whopping 126m euros (£113m) and Benfica have officially stated that the Spanish club will pay the amount in installments after bidding 6m euros more than the 19-year-old’s 120m euro release clause.

Only Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele have moved for more money. The Portuguese sensation has signed a 7-year deal with the Los Colchoneros and is set to wear the no.7 Jersey that was being worn by Antoine Griezmann, who is set to leave the club this summer.

Felix has been called as the most exciting young player since Cristiano Ronaldo. He made his senior debut for Benfica at the start of the 2018-19 season but scored 15 goals with 9 assists, helping his team win the Primeira Liga title.

Most notably, he scored a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League in April, becoming the youngest Benfica player and the youngest Portuguese footballer to score three goals in Europe and the youngest player ever to do so in the competition. What a record!

His sparkling form earned him a call up to the Portugal senior team, elevating to be a competitive product for big clubs like Manchester United and Manchester City before Atletico Madrid swooped in to secure his signature.

Felix now becomes one of the three players signed by former La Liga winners; Hector Herrera, 29, has signed a three-year deal after moving on a free transfer, while Brazil centre-back Felipe, 30, has joined for 20m euros (£17.9m). The club has also confirmed the sale of midfielder Rodri, 23, to Premier League champions Manchester City in a £62.8m deal.
