Ex Gor Mahia midfielder among 16 sacked in Rwanda

Former Gor Mahia midfielder, Jean-Baptiste Mugiraneza is among 16 players that have been released by Rwandan giants, APR following their unfruitful 2018/19 campaign where they finished the season trophy-less.

Migi rejoined APR in January 2018 after an unsuccessful one-year stint with K’Ogalo and was named skipper upon his return. However, the club has decided to axe the midfielder who still had one year left in his contract with the military outfit.

Other notable departees include former Zesco United midfielder Jean Iranzi, Rwandan international Dominique Savio Nshuti, Amavubi defender Albert Ngabonziza, former KCCA midfielder Dennis Rukundo among others.

Dropped players

Jean-Baptiste ‘Migi’ Mugiraneza, Moustapha Nsengiyumva, Denis Rukundo, Amran Nshimiyimana, Herve Rugwiro, Evode Ntwali, Steven Ntalibi, Yves Kimenyi, Michel Rusheshangoga, Mirafa Nzeyimana, Albert Ngabonziza, Jean-Claude Iranzi, Maxime Sekamana, Issa Bigirimana, Dominique Savio Nshuti and Ramadani Niragira.

The club has so far made nine new signings, they include; Rayon Sports quartet of Thierry Manzi ,Ange Mutsinzi, Olivier ‘Sefu’ Niyonzima and Djabel Manishimwe who was widely expected to join Kenyan giants, Gor Mahia. Others are; Omar Rwabugiri and Alex Nkomezi from Mukura, Heritier Ahishakiye and Clément Niyigena from Marines FC and Police FC’s Mohamed Mushimiyimana.

The team is currently preparing for the Cecafa Kagame Cup that kicks off on Friday in Kigali Rwanda on Friday 4th July. They have been pooled in group C alongside, Proline, Green Buffaloes, Heegan.
