The 26-year-old came to the rescue of many dispirited Kenyans who had completely lost hope in the Harambee Stars mainly after they were literally manhandled by Algeria in their opening match. Kenya were beaten 2-0 and failed to secure even a shot on target.

But Migne’s boys headed to their match against Tanzania with a much new force and determination, coming back twice and scoring their winning goal in the 80th minute, thanks to the brace by the sensational forward Michael Olunga. His first overhead kick in the 39th minute was a classic goal that added him to the list of few strikers who have scored in that way.

As if that wasn’t enough, Olunga added his second and distinguishing goal for the Stars with a quickly-released grass-cutter to beat the busy Tanzania goalkeeper Aishi Manula. The goal brought cheers back to the face of Kenyans and in fact, earned him a name.

A lot is expected from the Kenyan International on Monday during a meeting with the injured Mane-led team who lost 1-0 to Algeria in their second group stage match on Thursday last week.
