Neymar ready to bear the heavy cost of returning to Barcelona

Paris Saint Germain forward Neymar has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Barcelona and is ready to bear the huge cost of returning to Nou Camp. The Brazilian who joined the French club 2 years ago was reported earlier this week to have agreed on a contract offer with his former employer.

The report states that Neymar agreed on a 5-year deal with the Catalan giants which should possibly take effect this summer. The 27-year-old is understood to have accepted the terms without hesitation because he doesn’t want to stall their transfer negotiations.

If the transfer succeeds, the Brazilian will see his salary being reduced by close to half, from €36.8 million per season to around €24 million per season, an amount close to his salary at Barca before his controversial departure to PSG.

Nonetheless, all these will just happen if the two clubs enter into an agreement about his transfer. It is reported that PSG have still maintained that they want a whopping amount of €300 million to release the sensational forward, a fee that is unaffordable for the Blaugrana.

Barcelona are relying on Neymar to force the move, starting by issuing a public statement. However, the club’s vice-president Jordi Cardoner confirmed on Thursday that Neymar does want to return to the Camp Nou. This is the first time that an employee of either club has admitted this publicly.

The French club paid a staggering £200 million for Neymar in August 2017 and are not prepared to take a loss. As it stands, any transfer would see about three players swapped for the South American.
