The Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i is paying for his past mistake while serving  as Cabinet Secretary for Education where he irregularly paid for the Ruaraka Land with the help of Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang.

The High court in its ruling has declared the Land as a Public land revealing that CS Fred Matiang’i and Principal Secretary of Education wired 1.5 Billion to Francis Mburu to acquire the land.

The acquisition of the 13.7-acre parcel for two public schools,  Ruaraka High and Drive Inn primary, was executed during Matiang’i’s tenure as Education CS and Belio as his Principal Secretary.

The Senate Public Accounts Committee concluded that the State was duped to pay for its own land.

The explosive report, which caused a storm in Parliament, endorsed a probe against Swazuri, Mburu,  Fred Matiangi and  Belio Kipsang for their roles in the Ruaraka land saga.

The report was later shot down in the House after senators failed to garner the requisite numbers to adopt it.

The senators were however accused of playing dirty to save the Super Minister Fred Matiang’i.

The report by the Senate’s County Public Accounts and Investments Committee chaired by Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang had indicted Dr Matiang’i and Dr Kipsang for being criminally liable for the loss of public funds.

But senators who rejected it said Mr Kajwang and his team had gone beyond their powers and mandate in making the recommendations.
