Brazil head coach Tite has expressed his worry ahead of their possible semi-final tie with Argentina considering that they are captained by the best player in the world, Lionel Messi. The hosts narrowly survived quarter-final tie with Paraguay to secure a last-four spot after winning 4-3 on penalties following a barren draw in Porto Alegre.

Tite’s boys wasted a lot of chances in front of the opponents’ goal despite Paraguay being reduced to 10 men in the 58th minute when Fabian Balbuena was sent off.

Nevertheless, the Selecao escaped potential distress when Gabriel Jesus fired home the decisive penalty following Gustavo Gomez and Derlis Gonzalez’s misses for Paraguay. They will now anxiously keep an eye on the Argentina and Venezuela match slated for Friday, with the victor to meet them in the semi-finals.

Tite, however, stated his fear of meeting Argentina in regards to the current state of his side. “Very large individual technical quality. As a challenge for all teams, they have to adapt when they have the best in the world, Messi is unquestionable,”  said Tite.

Earlier on, former Brazilian player Rivaldo had warned his countrymen that they will find it rough if they meet Argentina in the semi-finals. “It certainly won’t be an easy route to the final, but when you have Messi… anything is possible!” Rivaldo said.”Messi comes out on top in these big games. It’s there when Argentine need him most and Leo knows how to respond to these challenges.”
