Deputy President William Ruto is increasingly adopting a more assertive approach to his political campaigns as he takes his 2022 presidential bid to the next level.

With all indications that his path to the Presidency is facing increasing resistance from the mainstream political class comprising of a section of Mt. Kenya leaders, the Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s camp, Dr Ruto has decided to chart his own political course may be out of fear of issues that may ultimately come at a heavy political cost.

The DP has lately dumped politics. Some work must have been done on his diary as he is nowhere to be seen near ‘Matanga’s’ or even Church Harambee’s d0nating cash while throwing some jabs to his opposers.

Dr. Ruto has been a busy man for the whole week holding consultation and development agenda committees and getting involved in board meetings with organizations in efforts to end harmful cultural practices.

On Thursday, Ruto held a meeting with UNFPA Kenya, Anti-FGM Board and Ushanga Kenya in his Karen home in efforts to end harmful cultural practices, such as FGM and child marriage that affects women’s health, education and hinders their progress.

On Wednesday while his loyalties were still defending him over his assassination alledges by some of the Mt.Kenya Cabinet Secretaries, Ruto was holding a consultation meeting with the National Treasury, the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), Controller of Budget, National Assembly Budget Office and the leadership of Parliament in efforts to end the stalemate on shared revenue to counties.

“We have made good progress in the bid to strengthen devolution and enhance equitable development, Karen office, Nairobi County,” he stated.

On Tuesday the same week, Dr.Ruto was having a discussion with Serbian Ambassador to Kenya Dragan Županjevac at his  Karen office on the possibility of Kenya exploring emerging export markets with Market

“Serbia is a target destination for avocado, mango, macadamia and other value-added products that will enhance farmers’ earnings and boost our balance of trade”, he argued.

Ruto’s absence from politics may be proof that he is hiding to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s latest outburst at Kasarani on early politicking and concentrating on development agenda. Angered Uhuru hit out at some unnamed politicians accusing them of sabotaging his agenda while undermining his quest to leave a legacy of a united country.
