This week started on a high note with Deputy President Dr William Ruto hitting the news headlines with his assassination claims. But who wants to take the second in command’s life?

Well, the claims saw the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) summon four Cabinet Secretaries on claims that they were holding meetings at La Mada Hotel to plot the killing of the DP.

According to the DCI, Ruto called them to inform them about the plot. Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya (Trade), Joe Mucheru (ICT), James Macharia (Transport) and Sicily Kariuki (Health) were summoned.

They however declined to record statements arguing that there was no any statement that had been recorded by Ruto on the claims.

But the allegations have led to different reactions from Kenyans and politicians.

The Embakasi East Member of Parliament says he called President Uhuru Kenyatta when he first heard of the claims.

Speaking on NTV’s Sidebar show on Tuesday night, Babu Owino revealed what the head of state told him when he called to inquire.

He says President Kenyatta told him that he is not interested in sideshows and is concentrating on the big four agenda.

According to Babu Owino, the fact that the DP did not record a statement then it shows that this is a rumor.

“After I heard the news about the alleged attacks on DP Ruto I called the president and he said he is not interested in sideshows and is concentrating on the big four agenda. The fact that the DP did not record a statement then it shows that this is a rumor,” said the first term legislator.

What do you think about Babu Owino’s claims on his call to President Kenyatta over DP Ruto’s assassination claims?
