Shikanda elected new AFC Leopards chairman

Former AFC Leopards winger, Dan Shikanda has been elected new club chairman during a poll that was conducted on Sunday 23rd June at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.

Dr. Shikanda defeated former AFC Leopards CEO Ronald Namai and city lawyer Ben Musundi to bag the seat and will be in charge at the den for the next three years. He garnered 457 votes while Musundi came in second with 165 votes. Namai was a distant 3rd with 72 votes only. He replaces outgoing chairman Dan Mule who decided against defending his seat.

Shikanda  needs no introduction in Kenyan football. He played for Leopards, Gor Mahia and the Kenya national team Harambee Stars. As an administrator, Shikanda was elected FKF Nairobi branch chairman in 2011 before he was later suspended by FKF National Executive Committee led by former FKF supremo Sam Nyamweya.

In 2016 , he vied for the vice president position during the FKF elections but managed just one vote with Doris Petra winning the seat. In 2017, he was Peter Kenneth’s running mate during the national elections.

Oliver Sikuku was elected club Secretary General during the polls. Sikuku served as a committee member in the outgoing office and floored Robert Situma who was his only challenger to bag the seat. He garnered 570 votes while Situma managed a paltry 124. Sikuku takes over from Oscar Igaida who was not cleared to defend his seat.

Maurice Chichi floored incumbent Oliver Napali to bag the treasurer’s position. Chichi garnered 508 votes while Napali managed to get 188.

The three will serve for a period of three years.
