Even as the county of Uasin Gishu prepares to host President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday at a function in Eldoret town, new concerns have emerged concerning the President’s much-anticipqated visit.

Uhuru who will on Friday be visiting Ruto’s home town of Eldoret for the first time since 2017 when he went to campaign in the region will be expected to preside over the re-launching of Eldoret- based Moi University owned textile factory, Rivatex.

Despite the expectations, the tension in the county is growing after a section of residents printed suspicious T-shirts and posters bearing the name and image of deputy William Ruto.

The posters which have the tags “Hustler” written on them are meant to be used in Friday’s function to counter President Uhuru Kenyatta who according to many of the locals has recently turned his back on William Ruto and instead embracing opposition Leaders Raila Odinga ahead of 2022.

According to some of the bloggers in the county, the decision to print banners and images bearing William Ruto, ‘hustler’s’ name on them is a bad move that is likely to charge the ground in the process leading to the heckling of the President.

According to a section of residents, this is a well-calculated move by some of the Tanga-tanga members to coerce President Uhuru during Friday’s function to declare his full support for William Ruto in 2022.

It was while in Eldoret in 2017 that Uhuru declared that he was going to run for 10 years and leaving his deputy William Ruto taking the rest 10 years after 2022. The same endorsement is expected by most locals to repeat itself come Friday.

This, as observed by a local blogger Lord PK Kimutai might eventually force the President to cancel his visit to the region in a move to avoid unnecessarily embarrassments and confrontations from some local politicians who are die-hard supporters of his Deputy William Ruto.

Earlier on, unconfirmed reports emerged online stating that the state house operatives had been instructed to block Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi from attending the President’s function.

According to protocol procedures, Sudi was supposed to be the master of ceremony hosting the president in his Kapseret constituency where the function will be happening.

Instead, reports indicate that the directives prefer the speeches to be only limited to Professor Margaret Kamar, Uasin Gishu senator, Governor Jackson Mandago and William Ruto before President Kenyatta makes his speech.

Despite these uncertainties, hopes are still high for the President to preside over the revival of a textile factory that had collapsed after two decades of neglect.
