Manchester United fans on social media are elated by news that the club is closing in on signing a new right-back to beef up their leaking rear-guard.
United went through turbulent times last season with the once glorious club not only failing to lift any trophy but also failed to secure Champions League football for next season after finishing in sixth position in the English Premier League.
The Red Devils conceded 54 goals last season and their defense was rated among the worst backlines for top teams in the league. United defenders led by stand-in skipper Ashley Young, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling were heavily criticized for soaking in many goals, the trio was however offered new deals by the club.
Norwich City right-back Max Aarons and Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka are reportedly being trailed by United. Matthijs de Ligt, Kalidou Koulibaly, Harry Maguire and Issa Diop are other defenders that have been linked with a switch to Old Trafford this summer and United fans cant wait to see Ashley Young, a winger cum right-back out of the team’s starting lineup.

Last season club captain Antonio Valencia, who has since left the club barely featured for the club with Ashley Young slotting into the right-back position as well as leading the team.
