Upbeat Kenyans shower praises on FKF President Nick Mwendwa

Kenyans have overwhelmingly showered praise to the Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa for the milestones he has achieved since assuming the office in February 2016.

Mwendwa, 39 floored the big guns in Gor Chairman Ambrose Rachier, the incumbent Sam Nyamweya, former international Sammy Sholei, Dan Shikanda among others to secure the presidency in a hotly contested election.

Vilified and adored in equal measure, Nick Mwendwa’s stint has seen Kenya move from 112th position with 291 points in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World ranking in 2015 to 105th position with 1207 points in 2019. This is a sure way to measure how football in Kenya has seen a significant improvement.

The Kariobangi Sharks owner has also seen Kenya qualify for the African Cup of Nation for the first time after 15 years, with the last being in 2004 where Harambee Stars were bundled out of the competition in group stages. More importantly, Kenyans were quick to note how the Football Kenya Federation has ensured that there is smooth preparation for the AFCON competition.

Harambee Stars were privileged to jet off to Paris, France for their preparation, where they enjoyed the modern training facilities for the training for a period of 19 days. What a milestone!

The Kenya National Team received a warm welcome upon arrival in Cairo on 19 June 2019.

At the sight of this, Kenyans did not hesitate to storm social media to pour their appreciation to the FKF president Nick Mwendwa, who has shown an able leadership.

Fans were also keen to point out key issues that the national team used to have that have been solved in Mwendwa’s stint. They noted that issues like flight delays and allowance issues were among the things that used to derail the growth of Harambee Stars.

Dan McDwele My brother all along we have had the government and the federation as well but we have had delayed allowances,late tickets and untimely flights. Today the same Kenyan government with different federation have worked together to make our national team feel honored.

Fans have also lauded his reasoning and mentality towards improving football in Kenya. They have called for more support to Mwendwa to make things even better.
