Harambee Stars defender Joash Onyango has set Twitter ablaze with his new fresh look as the team continues with preparations ahead of the African Cup of Nations Tournament. Sebastian Migne side is in a training Camp in Paris and will face Algeria on Sunday in what will be the countries first match in the tournament since 2004.

On Tuesday, training photos emerged showing the 26-year-old Joash Onyango rocking a blonde beard, immediately generating reactions from the clearly football hungry KOT.

His confident look is contagious it seems…

The Gor Mahia defender rose to fame in bizarre circumstances. Harambee stars were playing Ghana in a must-win qualifier match at the Kasarani Stadium and were leading 1-0 through a Nicholas Opuko own goal. Late into the match, Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey was through on goal and a fraction of a second away from pulling the trigger, Patrick Matasi in the Kenyan goal was already shaping up to stop the shot.

Joash Onyango would, however, slide in and put in tackle right, stopping a clear goal scoring chance that earned him a straight red card. Harambee Stars held on to win with 10 men but Joash Onyango was the hero of the day, everyone in the stadium applauded him on his way down the tunnel after his sending off.

”Nobody knows what would have happened had Joash not did what he did. He is a guy who is ready to die for the team and we are all thankful to him despite the red card,” Stars striker Micheal Olunga said after the heroic win.

Onyango and his teammates are expected to leave for Cairo on Tuesday evening from their training base in France, where the head coach Sebastian Migne hails from. The team drew 1-1 with DRC Congo in their last friendly prior to the Tournaments which kicks off on Friday 21 June.
