Rotich’s Mega Budget Raid, IEBC Narrows Down on Chiloba’s Replacement, Selfie haunts Traffic Cop

The cold keeps on biting but we have to keep going. The good thing with Kenyans is that we are overcomers and we have solutions to every problem. We hope that our top three stories will help you forget the biting cold.

The Budget Debate takes centre stage today, as Treasury CS Henry Rotich is expected to read an ambitious Ksh 3.08 trillion budget in later in the day. Our biggest problem is that we don’t have this money. Our tax revenue collection is around Ksh1.8 trillion and the CS will have a very tough time explaining how he plans to bridge the gap.

Kenyans should expect to be hit hard with new taxes.  This could be through raising the Value Added Tax (VAT). Other likely targets are the betting industry and capital gains tax, which targets the wealthy.

IEBC Narrows Down on Chiloba Replacement

IEBC has moved a step closer to replacing former CEO Ezra Chiloba. The electoral body has shortlisted 1o candidates to take over the position that was held by a man who was loved by ladies but hated by former NASA supporters. Among those in contention is Zephaniah Okeyo Aura, a man who emerged top in IEBC’s interview for commissioners in 2016 but never got the job.

Selfie Haunts Traffic Cop

A traffic police officer is in hot soup over a selfie picture. His troubles started in March this year when the officer arrested a Matatu tout and booked him for operating without uniform. Unfortunately, the tout was more intelligent and took a selfie of himself in uniform. The cop was shocked when the selfie was presented in a Kibera court.
