Embattled United forward Lukaku opens up on his future at the club

Castellated Manchester and Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku has come out and spoken on his future at the club as Italian side Inter Milan continue to scout on him and his situation in the Premier League.

Lukaku scored a close-range finish brace as Belgium thrashed Scotland 3-0 at the King Baudouin Stadium on Tuesday to secure a fourth straight win in Euro 2020 qualifying and move clear of the chasing pack in Group I.

The forward’s breakthrough for his nation comes after a tough season at club level in which he lost his place in the first-team at Old Trafford especially in the last minutes of the season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He failed to impress under Jose Mourinho’s leadership at the start of last season and continued to underwhelm when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced the sacked Portuguese in December.

The former Chelsea and Everton hitman managed just 15 goals in all competitions and has been linked with an Old Trafford exit this summer as Solskjaer oversees a squad overhaul.

There has been increased speculation linking him with a summer move to Inter Milan, who are now managed by former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

“I have a contract with Man United,” he said regarding his future. I’ll speak with my club and my agent Federico Pastorello to make the best decision.

“I am going to enjoy my holidays with my family now. I know what I’ll do but won’t say it. We’ll see. If I expect a busy summer? Yes.”

The striker also admitted that he has had a tough season for United but is adamant it will make him a stronger person.

“I’ve had a difficult season at club level,” he said. “I lost my place and haven’t played much,” he added.

“But that is a phase in my career and it will help me for the next step.”

Lukaku is expected to exit the club before the beginning of the next season and it is Inter Milan under former Chelsea manager who has registered their desire to have his services as United feels he is not fit for the squad at the moment.
