Akumu the shock exclusion as Migne names Harambee Stars’ final AFCON squad

Harambee Stars coach Sébastien Migné has omitted four players in his final squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations AFCON in Egypt slated for 21st June t0 19th July.

Zesco’s Teddy Akumu noticeably features in the list of those slashed, alongside Clifton Miheso, Christopher Mbamba, who has failed to recover in from an ankle injury he picked up in his last match before checking into camp, and Brian Mandela.

Mandela, who plays for South African side Maritzburg United in the Premier Soccer League, got a knee injury on during training yesterday and has been ruled out of the entire tournament.

Zambian-based defender Musa Mohamed, who picked up a knock in Kenya’s first pre-AFCON friendly match against Madagascar, has been included in the list, as has Abud Omar, who limped off late in the match.

The team is getting set for their final pre-AFCON friendly match against the Democratic Republic of Congo, set to be played on Saturday, June 15, 2019, in Madrid, Spain.

Stars will then jet into Egypt on June 19, 2019, five days before their opening match of the tournament against North African side Algeria who are led by Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez.

Harambee Stars will be led Tottenham midfielder their captain and Patrick Matasi is expected to be in the lead in the goal posts while Musa Mohammed will lead the defence for the stars while prolific striker who has excelled in Jpan will lead the lethal attack for the Stars.
