Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris has come out to defend herself against earlier allegations labeled against her by Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.

While addressing members of the press on Monday morning, Passaris accused the city governor of spreading malicious lies against her while promising to take legal action against Sonko.

“When you take public office, you have to be guided by the constitution and what is right, you cannot use lies. It is very easy for the DCI to investigate each and every allegation against me and deal with them one by one” posed Passaris.

Passaris expressed her disappointments against the Governor saying that her name had been soiled in every media house over the newspapers and televisions when it was clear that the allegations were pure propaganda by Sonko.

She urged all Kenyans to turn their backs on the false allegations maintaining that she had consulted with her lawyers and various government offices in a move that will enable the women rep to take all the necessary actions against Mike Sonko.

Passaris maintained that she will teach governor Sonko a good lesson for damaging her reputation and spreading lies. The fall out between the two got uglier after the vocal governor leaked a phone conversation between him and the women rep.

The recorded WhatsApp phone call was shared on social media by blogger Robert Alai on Sunday, just a day after Passaris walked out on Sonko during the Madaraka Day celebrations in Nairobi after she was subjected to a lengthy lecture by the governor.

In the leaked phone call,  a woman who is alleged to be Passaris is heard sharing confidential political reports she discussed with ODM leader Raila Odinga during the 2017 political campaigns.

The woman goes ahead to solicit sh 1million from Sonko which she says she was taking to Raila Odinga in a move aimed at sealing some deals with the ODM boss.

This comes just days after governor Sonko’s interview at Citizen Tv was cut short due to what the station’s editors termed as ‘standard and quality control measures.  Sonko’s claims that he had damning evidence against Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris forced the organisers to cut him short since it was a mandate for the station to first verify the documents before letting Sonko used them against Passaris.

Some social media users, however, slammed Passaris saying that the evidence provided by the governor were enough to crucify her.
