You may have no power over your beloved friend but at least you can advise him. Frenkie de Jong is trying all he could to convince Matthijs de Ligt to join him at Barcelona this summer.
The two were friends and teammates at Ajax and their union did wonders. They helped their club to lift domestic double and reach in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
And for that, Barcelona ran ahead of every club and secured the signature of De Jong in January, leaving De Ligt the only hottest property in the market this summer.
But for a long time now since the 19-year-old’s news started hitting the headlines, no one has been able to know in particular which club he will be playing for next season.
Rumours have been spreading that he will be joining Barcelona, PSG or Manchester United.
According to recent reports, De Ligt’s decision is imminent and it will be either Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain for his signature- these are the only two teams that maintain the bid for the promising defender of Ajax.
During an interview with Holand press, the Dutchman stated that his dream team was Ajax and he had attained it, dispelling all the rumormongers who mentioned that Barcelona is a dream team for the youngster.
Nonetheless, his friend De Jong raised a plea to the De Ligt asking him to join him at Barcelona. During an interview with one Holand publication, De Jong said that he has talked to De Ligt and told him that the matter about his future can only be solved by himself and his family.

All eyes are waiting to see if De Ligt will heed to De Jong’s plea and agree to sign for Barcelona.
