It is been a while since the transfer news about Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt started hitting the headlines. Many have been waiting to hear the club to which the Holand sensation will be playing for in the next season.
Matthijs de Ligt made a name to himself during the Champions League and their domestic league campaigns.
As the captain of Ajax, De Ligt helped his club lift the domestic double this season and steered their squad to narrowly miss reaching the Champions League final after falling to the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.
Since then, the Dutchman has been on the radar of many European clubs as he is currently regarded as the hottest property in the market.
Barcelona, in particular, have been heavily linked with the star and it was reported that the player himself had confessed his desire to play for the Blaugrana alongside his former teammate Frenkie de Jong, who had been signed by Barcelona back in January.

Recently, during his interview with one publication in Netherland, De Ligt dispelled rumours that his dream club is Barcelona. He stated categorically that his dream club was Ajax and he had achieved it, leaving rumourmongers with their hands hanging limp.
But now, De Ligt has brought hope nearer for those who were eager to know which club the 19-year-old will be signing for.
According to reports, De Ligt’s decision is imminent and it will be either Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain for his signature- these are the only two teams that maintain the bid for the promising defender of Ajax.
