Grief as Second Student Mysteriously Dies in a Nyanza School

An atmosphere of sorrow has gripped Migori County after parents woke up to the body of their class four pupil hanging from a rope on one of the trees in the homestead.

The child is said to have committed the horrible act moments before 8 pm Tuesday, with minimal information indicating any disagreements with his parents.

The distraught parents of the boy staying at Dago area of Uriri Sub-County were in mourning for the better part of Wednesday after police transported the minor’s body to Migori Level Four Hospital awaiting an autopsy.

Uriri Sub-County Police boss Peter Njoroge said his officers had launched investigations into the death of the 12-years old class four pupil and that they would visit Dago Primary school to source for clues that could reveal the motive of his death.

This happened just days after Homabay Women Rep Gladys Wanga toured the area advocating for parents to develop a relationship with their children in the face of an upsurge in suicide and murder cases.

This becomes the second suspected suicide case in the week after a form three student at St John Bosco school in Kisii was found dead inside the teachers’ latrine in the school compound.

The student is said to have been missing for more than two weeks before the school principal filed an OB with the police regarding his disappearance.

Tuesday, a guard in the school discovered the body after a foul smell dominated the area, leading to suspicion.

The boy’s body was found lying on the latrine floor with his hands tied to his back.

An alleged suicide note would, later on, be found in the student’s locker where he reportedly decried undisclosed frustrations and problems.

On the suicide note, according to Hivisasa, the boy warns of anyone accessing his locker, save for his parents, of “haunting.”
