Leadership has challenges. This is undoubted and as a leader, you must always brace to have opposition.
Perhaps the opposition may exist to help you or destroy you. Just recently, Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier announced his plan to retire from his position at Gor Mahia.
However, the embattled chairman made it clear that he won’t be vying for the position again. That means that K’Ogalo will have a new face in the position by latest December.
Rachier also announced a major revamp of the club’s constitution to ensure that the process of election and transition of power becomes smooth.
“My position is that we’re going through the constitution-making process which should be concluded in June. I estimate that we will need another six months to put everything in place and by December, in my estimation, we should have elections.
He added: “What I’m saying is that I won’t offer myself for re-election at the end of the year in the next election.
“We will be looking for some window period…to hold elections so that it doesn’t interfere with the team,” he said.
As he leaves the club, Rachier will be remembered for reviving the club and end their 18-year wait for a Kenyan Premier league title claiming the coveted gong in 2013 and have since gone on to monopolise the competition, winning it six times under his watch besides bagging two KPL Top Eight titles, a further four KPL Super Cups and two domestic cups.
It is now barely two weeks since Rachier made this announcement and he has claimed that he is begged not to quit.
However, this statement seemed not to have gone well with K’Ogalo fans as they ran to social media to bash him for the claim. Some claimed that they wanted the chairman to quit for sanity to be restored back at Gor.
Whos is begging? he as been there for 11 years and we have no training ground, we have a matatu as a bus, and other important things. To be fair, he has tried his best but lets also see what others can achieve

Who begs him, Rachier should leave. We need sanity in Gor Mahia. That's the only thing we have as a Luo emblem

While announcing his plan to quit, Rachier was also quoted saying that he will be leaving the job for his opposers so that they can also face the challenges he has been facing at K’Ogalo.
It is now true that he has had several enemies at the club and all eyes are waiting to see if he will really bow to their pressure.
Do you think Gor will be dead if Ambrose Rachier quits?
