Considering that Arsenal has failed to secure a Champions League spot, and the fact that they will have only £40 million to spend this summer, it seems like they will have to sell one of their stars to raise transfer funds. No wonder that one of their star players and the Golden Boot winner for last season Pierre Aubameyang is subject to move away from the Emirates Stadium
However, despite interest from China, the Gunners board have boldly stated that Aubameyang is not going anywhere!
Aubameyang has two years left to run on his current Arsenal contract after joining the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund 18 months ago.
The Gabon international has been a goalscoring machine for Arsenal since his arrival and Unai Emery’s side want to prolong his stay at the Emirates.
Aubameyang has interest from China where he would be able to command enormous wages but Arsenal are determined to fend off any interest.
The north London outfit would offer Aubameyang an increase on his current £190,000-a-week wages and are confident of securing his long-term future.
Aubameyang was linked with a move to China before joining Arsenal and the Gunners believe he is now settled in London.
Since joining Arsenal at the end of January 2018, only Mohamed Salah (35) has scored more goals than Aubameyang (32) in the Premier League.
So selling him would sound like suicide for Arsenal’s attack. But Arsenal has been known to make silly transfer errors in the past.
Remember them selling Van Persie to United?
Yes…but this time around, they seem to be in their right senses!
