Tangatanga team plot to poach Mudavadi

Is Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader a threat to Deputy President Dr William Ruto’s 2022 presidency? Or is he the shock choice President Uhuru Kenyatta once talked of?

Well, the Western Kenya Tangatanga team led by former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, MPs Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), Nelson Koech (Belgut) and Justus Murunga (Matungu) have advised  Mudavadi to choose carefully the political leaders he aligns himself with in the race to State House.

Speaking yesterday when they accompanied the Matungu MP at a funds drive in aid of St Agnes Mwira Girls’ School, the leaders claimed the ANC party boss has been meeting politicians who cannot command a following to solidify his 2022 presidential bid.

They were referring to his recent visit to Central where he met several former politicians and poll losers. Mudavadi on May 21 held a consultative meeting at Tigoni in Kiambu County with a section of Central leaders hosted by former MP Nginyo Kariuki.

Dr Khalwale claimed the ANC leader risks repeating the political mistake he made in 2013 when he ran for the presidency.

In 2013 Mudavadi vied for the presidency on his UDF party ticket with Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni as his running mate.

“Mudavadi’s running mate in 2013 could not even give him his vote, which shows his choice of people to work with was not well thought out,” said Khalwale.

The leaders said Mudavadi will stand a better chance in the succession race if he works with Ruto. Washiali urged the Luhya to tread carefully in 2022 to ensure they are not left out of government.

Koech asked the Luhya to join hands with the Kalenjin and other like minded communities to ensure the DP ascends to power.
