Controversial Kenyan Gospel Artiste has never shied away from sharing his past life experiences as he believes they shaped him into who he is and the God-fearing man he has become.
He opened up about his tough childhood orphaned at 5 and having to fend for himself back then. His story is truly a grass to grace story that would put tears in your eyes. He has survived many arrows sharpened against him and emerged victorious! His mother abandoned him in the streets at a tender age.
Mamamangu alinitupa kwa streets nikiwa mdogo because she had differences with my father. I was picked to go live with my grandmother.
I grew up suffering from Kwashiokor. My father died when I was 5, granma died when I was 7 years old then I became a street boy. Nikaanza kuvuta gum
Immediately after his grandmother died, he went to live with my uncles (fathers brothers) who would beat him every day.
Walinipiga nikiambiwa natolewa tabia mbaya nyanya yangu alinifundisha
He has truly dug through the dirt to emerge unscathed on the other side. He never let his circumstances determine who he is.
On the interview, they spent their afternoon at Hidden Talent Academy where he schooled for two years as an orphan before running away to Mombasa to look for rich old tourists/ sugar mummies.
Please don’t tell the Principal, I never confessed to him why I went to Mombasa.
So many years past and that one incident still makes him a bit ashamed.
After a warm welcome at the school, the gospel artiste had a few words of wisdom to impart. First, he inspired the students with his rags to riches story.
Nilizaliwa kwa nyumba ilikuwa mchanga, si simiti. Nilikua nadream before niishi kwa nyumba inaoshwa na maji.
Dream yangu ya pili ilikuwa niendeshe gari kabla nidie.
Both his dreams came true by God’s grace. He inspires many with his testimony of God’s divine grace on his life and endless possibility.
Betty Kyallo also motivated the students with her career story. She revealed that she wasn’t born with gold on he mouth, that her journey to the top wasn’t easy. She confessed to starting at the bottom as a tea girl during internship. But hard work, commitment, and passion are prerequisites for success
Prove the haters who think you can’t make it wrong
Ringtone’s Parting shot: “It’s not easy. It’s like learning to ride a bike, fall down and get back up. Don’t give up, keep pushing!”
