During the meeting, the leaders also discussed current status of the South Sudan Peace process with President Kiir thanking former President Moi for his efforts of making sure South Sudan became an independent state from the larger Sudan. It is recorded in history how Nairobi hosted the monumental peace talks held in 2001 between rebel leader John Garang and the then President Omar el Bashir, at the supervision of President Moi, talks that ended almost half a century of war between Khartoum and Juba.

Senator Gideon Moi seems to have giving a different approach to his rumored 2022 bid for presidency.Whereas DP Ruto, the only candidate who has publicly declared his interest to run so far, is engaging in early 2022 campaigns in the local scene, Senator Moi is casting his net on the international scene, bringing in possible financiers to his fold.He is targeting current and former heads of states before embarking on an aggressive campaign in the local scene when the whistle goes off.

The senator has been at logger heads with DP William Ruto who sees him as threat to his ascension to power. Ruto feels the younger Moi is out to split Rift Valley vote and minimize his chances of being president.Their rivalry has grown to irreconcilable levels even the Kalenjin Council of Elders has thrown in the towel in their attempts to reconcile the two.
