Alleged 1 Million Bribe From Waititu That Would Land Magistrate In Trouble

State agencies are investigating bribery saga in which it’s claimed Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu compromised then Kiambu Principal Magistrate Brian Khaenba with sh1m to make a favourable ruling.

Khaemba has since been transferred by Judiciary Service Commission to Thika Law Courts.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had petitioned the JSC to investigate Khaemba’s conduct when he granted Waititu a bail while he was on sick leave.

Already Khaemba’s bank accounts and those of his close family and associates are being investigated.

Not spared are bank accounts operated by lawyers acting on behalf of Waititu. Also being investigated are family members of the governor and three business associates.

The governor who was arrested last week is under probe over fraudulent KSh 588 million worth of tenders to supply various services to the county, which were allegedly given to companies associated with him and close relatives.

Khaemba has been moved to Thika Law Courts effective July 1, 2019, barely two weeks after granting embattled Governor Ferdinand Waititu anticipatory bail.

Though it was not immediately established why the Judiciary Service Commission transferred Khaemba, he had been put on spotlight for issuing the bail on a day he was on sick leave.
