US ambassador to Kenya has left online awash with an exchange of words after he dropped a bombshell on the ongoing National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday which was hosted at the Safari park hotel with hundreds of delegates and the presidency also in attendance.
Moments after the meeting kicked off, US ambassador to Kenya, Kyle McCarter wrote a controversial tweet that Kenyans online took to back up the tweet while other U.S citizens engaged the ambassador over the tweet.
The tweet read: “Kenyan leaders are praying and asking for forgiveness for the sin of thievery at the 17th annual National Prayer Breakfast. What a good start to take the nation on the path of prosperity the wananchi deserve. We must all do our part. #stopthesethieves.”
The social media statement was backed up with a video of the leaders dancing on the podium.
The United States has pledged to continue supporting Kenya in the war against corruption byΒ keeping an eye on high-profile political and business leaders linked to corruption.
My brother just a brotherly advise be careful they will soon recruit you in their association they will destroy you and if not careful again they will have a USA embassy title deed.

The biggest thieves were there ‘praying’. To start ‘forgiveness’ they should first of all resign from public office and then face a court.

Ambassador I hope you’re engaging the power of sarcasm. Career thieves need no prayers. Their prayers are a mockery to the nation and God. Before prayer, during prayer, after prayer, these folks will remain the same. No business conducting this prayer ritual every year. Bure!!!

In this atmosphere we must celebrate every effort to recognize and take on thievery.

Balozi, why do I have this feeling that we would soon be seeing you eat Nyama Choma with Wangathika Thuu and other commoners Kuhura at Kanua bar & restaurant, King’eero – like Smith Hempstone used to do!

From a diplomatic standpoint, this type of sarcasm has gone overboard. ‘Thievery’? All in the same basket? There is a corruption problem in Kenya but we have not lost our dignity as a people. So Mr. Ambassador, next time come slowly. US is also suffering from Trump ‘Bigotry’.

I’m an American living in Kenya too, and am disappointed in your statement. I would hope for a more useful analysis and engagement on this topic that is costing Kenyans dearly. So my Kenyan taxes get misappropriated, then my American taxes go to palliative statements about it?

Sir, this was a tweet, not a full position paper on dealing with thievery & I think you know this.
β Ambassador Kyle McCarter (@USAmbKenya) May 30, 2019
Ambassador is it really thievery alone affecting our Nation? What about jobs, economy drought and cohesion..
