President Uhuru Kenyatta has on Thursday led religious and political leaders in the 17th National Prayer Breakfast at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.
Notable politicians attended the event that was packed by over 3,000 invited guests.
South Sudan President Salva Kiir graced the function.
Uhuru and Deputy President William Ruto joined in a Maasai traditional performance presented by Kajiado county officials’ during the national prayer fete.
The President urged leaders to be more practical about what they said at the Prayer Breakfast.
He emphasised that Kenyans need a better country which can only b achieved when leaders walk the talk.
“We love talking about, we love making the commitments but the practical side is a bit tough, let’s just do it. That is all our people ask of us nothing else. We can sing from the rooftops but all our people want is for us to do what we have said,” said President Kenyatta.
President Kenyatta also called on his counterpart President Kiir to ensure there is peace in the war-torn country.
He added that his people seriously needed peace, as he assured him of Kenya’s total support
“In South Sudan, peace is possible but there must be also the intention to have peace because at the end of the day leadership is not about who is president but about service to your people and the people and South Sudan desperately need peace in order for them to get service that they fought for, for many years,” he said.
“And Kenya stands ready my brother to work with you and all your colleagues to help the people of South Sudan to achieve that long waited for the objective of a strong united prosperous South Sudan,” added President Uhuru Kenyatta.
