Thursday, May 30th, Kenya marked the 17th annual Prayer Breakfast with a ceremony held at a Five-star hotel- Safari park Hotel in Nairobi. As Usual, many political leaders attended the event, led by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Unlike any other political event, national annual prayer breakfast is an event which is supposed to bring leaders together to reflect and pray for the country.

The theme of annual prayer breakfast 2019 was ‘The dawn of New Kenya’. It involved national leaders in the judiciary and executive and Governors.
In a country where 98% of government officials have been involved in corruption, political wars, and graft, the same leaders spoke about corruption and national unity.
The fact that corrupt leaders were supposed to address corruption evoked myriad of sarcastic statements from the public.
Taking to social media ambassador Kyle McCarter- US ambassador to Kenya made a sarcastic statement. Take a look
Kenyan leaders are praying and asking for forgiveness for the sin of thievery at the 17th annual National Prayer Breakfast. What a good start to take the nation on the path of prosperity the wananchi deserve. We must all do our part. #stopthesethieves pic.twitter.com/OgLKen8LYl

Well, this post provoked weird comments featuring all manner of sarcasm towards the national event and corrupt leaders.
See the comments;
Cyprian Nyakundi: Sin of thievery? Then the prayers should have been held at Kamiti prison not a five-star hotel with limited entry
Wainaina: Yes, Mr @USAmbKenya Kenyan leaders really need to seek forgiveness from God and just as the Bible said to Zaccheus, let them repay any cent they stole or was stolen under their watch, that way they will attain true forgiveness from God. This is a good start.
Odhiambo: Ambassador, I hope you’re engaging the power of sarcasm. Career thieves need no prayers. Their prayers are a mockery to the nation and God. Before prayer, during prayer, after prayer, these folks will remain the same. No business conducting this prayer ritual every year. Bure!!!
Ambassador Kyle McCarter: In this atmosphere, we must celebrate every effort to recognize and take on thievery.
Boniface: The more they pray, the more they steal @USAmbKenya. A change of strategy is needed here
Kamande; What is National about this day? I thought it should be the whole nation, something like 5hours Holiday for everyone to be in prayer. Not a few people congregating in a secluded place only for the rich.
#NationalPrayerBreakfast FYI Mandazi pale Safari Park Hotel is Kes. 500 or $5 #NationalPrayerDay2019 pic.twitter.com/HaK1gzIFWG

KIP: Idiots. Real issues are not solved by prayers we need jobs, Mr. Government, delusional prayers and retreats are just consuming public money. Disappointed. #NationalPrayerBreakfast
#NationalPrayerDay2019
Patriotic Kenyan: When we pray, we all close our eyes, expectant of God. When the prayer is answered, it is only one person who benefits. ”The amount of money lost here is only ksh 7B and not the ksh 21B we are hearing of” #NationalPrayerDay2019#PrayerBreakfast2019
Architects of #GalanaKulalu and #Kamwarer & #Arror heists partake in #NationalPrayerDay2019 #PrayerBreakfast2019 as free men, as those whom they have denied affordable food slept hungry. The bourgeoisie must be very scared of growing number of poor. #ResistCorruptionKE #Redv 👊 pic.twitter.com/ZMFnx2PjaY
