Khalwale dismisses Murathe, banks on Waititu for Ruto’s 2022 win

Former Kakamega County Senator Boni Khalwale has dismissed former Jubilee Party’s Interim Vice Chairman David Murathe’s move to stop Deputy President Dr William Ruto’s 2022 bid.

Khalwale who was speaking during an interview with KTN News on Wednesday night said that he would never take Murathe seriously.

Khalwale who recently ditched Moses Wetangula-led Ford Kenya party where he was a deputy party leader for Ruto’s Jubilee side said they have very credible Kikuyu leaders who would drum for Ruto’s support in the region.

Khalwale said Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu, Nyeri town MP Kimani Ichungwa and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro are the majority that Ruto is banking on come 2022.

“I would never take Murathe seriously. On the William Ruto side we have very credible Kikuyu leaders including Ferdinand Waititu, Kimani Ichungwa, Ndidi Nyoro and others Infact they are the majority,” said the bullfighter.

He said Murathe’s plan to block Ruto from succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 is dead on arrival.

The vocal politician opined that Murathe is one of the least influential leaders from the Mt Kenya region.

He also dismissed claims by former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto that the DP’s camp lacks regional kingpins to help him cobble a broad-based political alliance that can propel him to State House.

The Chama Cha Mashinani leader had in a previous interview described politicians backing Ruto’s bid as light weight first timers who cannot sway votes in Ruto’s favour and asked him to court regional kingpins like Mudavadi if he was keen on succeeding Uhuru.
