Top Ugandan diplomat to Kenya involved in gruesome accident along Eldoret highway

A diplomat has been injured in a serious road accident at Kimwanga area along the busy Eldoret-Malaba highway on early Thursday morning.

They are Uganda High Commissioner to Kenya Phibby Otaala and His driver. It is still not clear how the accident happened but the vehicle was heavily damaged during the accident.

The tires of the Toyota Prado she was driving in were burst and the vehicle appeared to have rolled as the roof was damaged.

She was immediately rushed to Lifecare Hospital in Bungoma town in critical condition awaiting to be airlifted to Nairobi or Uganda for advanced care.

Phibby Otaala of Uganda High Commission in Nairobi has been developing a new strategy to strengthen cross border tourism with Kenya.
The new strategy is aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties in both countries.

The four – Zambia’s ambassador to Kenya the late Ms Brenda Mudenda, Botswana’s ambassador to Kenya Duke Lephoko, Joseph Guttu, Zambian high Commissioner to Kenya, and Mr Kama Wasa Kaluwe (a Zambian diplomat) – sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident that involved multiple vehicles. Zambian High Commissioner to Kenya Brenda Muntemba-Sichilembe later succumbed to injuries she sustained in the road crash in Machakos.

Ms Mutemba, 49, died while receiving treatment in a Nairobi hospital after the crash three weeks ago.
