King Kaka set to end period poverty in Samburu County

Lack of proper sanitary menstruation materials such as underwear and sanitary towels can have negative health consequences for the needy adolescent girls causes them to worry that they will have a leak at school and be harassed or teased, giving them another reason to skip school during their periods.

However, 722 school going girls from Samburu County have everything to smile of after Kenyan rapper King Kaka is set to gift them with sanitary towels.

King Kaka through his initiative dubbed Bank on Me Sanitary Bank Campaign, will help keep the needy girls in school.

“What a beautiful sight , knowing that today 722 girls from Samburu will benefit from The King Kaka Sanitary Bank Campaign gives us so much joy”.

 

Apart from donating sanitary towels, King Kaka and his team will give mentor ship for both boys and girls.

“Some Good News!!!! Tomorrow 720 girls from Samburu will benefit from our King Kaka Sanitary Bank Campaign. Mentorship for both girls and boys, and securing the future of our young generation”.

 

The Sanitary Bank Campaign has launched a digital donation drive to enable public participation by encouraging more people to make their financial donations via mobile money, mobile banking, and credit cards, to give girls the confidence they need to stay in school during their menstruation periods.

“This campaign is about recognizing the right of education for girls.  Ministry of Health research shows that 65 percent of girls in rural and slum areas engage in transactional sex because they cannot access sanitary towels. We deeply appreciate partners, well-wishers, and influencers who have come on board to intervene and make our vision a reality,” said King Kaka while speaking about the initiative.

Apart from King Kaka, celebrated media personalities like  Anita Nderu, Janet Mbugua have also come to the rescue of needy school going girls.
